Thanks to the customs security guards of Dalaman Airport, 5.590 packets of foreign-origin cigarettes were found out in the suitcases of 2 people got off the plane.
According to the information gathered, upon the suspicious behaviors of Azeri N.M and Z.J deplaning from Moscow airplane flight number AYZ 9521 between Moscow-Dalaman Airfield, the customs security guards captured 326 cartons of various foreign branded cigarettes from the four suitcases they searched. It was detected that the third person left the suitcases and fled while his/her friends were being searched.
In the examination carried out, it was detected that there were 233 more cartons of cigarettes in the three suitcases on which the name of Azeri K.N was written -again from the same airplane- found on the conveying belt. It was explained that when the passenger got off the same plane in Dalaman he left his baggage and fled away. Taken into custody after the event, The Azeri suspects were forwarded to Dalaman court system.
On the other hand, Dalaman Airfield Customs officers gave a statement saying "Since Dalaman Airports is usually related with tourism, we have not experienced this kind of an incident up to the present. Thanks to our attention, we caught foreign-branded cigarettes for the first time. The present market value of the cigarettes is about 24 thousand YTL".
